The 14 Best Vegan Laptop Bags, Chosen by a Long-Term Vegan

I don’t know about you, but every time I get a new laptop I spend ages wondering how I can best protect it – whether I need a new laptop sleeve, whether the current sleeve is padded enough, etc. Personally I prefer taking my laptop out in a vegan laptop bag or backpack, because I know it’s fully secured in the bag. When I have to I’ll stick it in a sleeve inside a bigger backpack but for whatever reason, I never feel fully sure it’s secure in there!

If you feel this way too, I’ve put together this for you – my picks of the best laptop bags for vegans. I’ve been vegan since 2008, so I know the trial and tribulations of trying to find vegan bags that are cute but also durable and high-quality. I’ve tested a lot of vegan brands over the years so here are my top picks!

Vegan vintage style backpack

Fits up to 17″ laptop | Affordable

First off, we have the bargain laptop backpack. This is more of a casual style bag so I wouldn’t recommend it for the office (unless your office is casual). I’m not familiar with the brand so can’t speak for its longevity, but it looks like a decent, basic bag for the price. If you’re willing to spend a bit (a lot) more, I have my own laptop bag and personal favourite below, which is more office-friendly.

It also fits a laptop up to 17 inches, the largest in this post, so if you have a big laptop, this might be the best bag for your.

Labante Danai backpack

Fits up to 15″ | UK brand | Designer

This is the laptop backpack I own, and I love that it’s both comfortable to carry and perfect for more formal dress. It’s hard to find a work bag that’s comfy (most briefcases that go over the shoulder hurt my shoulders when carrying a laptop/anything heavy) but most backpacks aren’t formal enough.

This backpack straddles the line perfectly, and it’s the bag I always use for work meetings.

Matt and Nat laptop bag

Fits up to 16″

Matt & Nat is one of the oldest vegan bag brands around, operating for more than two decades. I’ve had a lot of vegan Matt & Nat bags and wallets over the years and while they’ve been criticised for still using less-sustainable materials in their products like PVC (though they seem to have removed most PVC now), their stuff does last a long time. For example, I had a Matt & Nat wallet that lasted over a decade. I’ve owned a lot of vegan leather that started flaking or peeling after a few years so I was impressed with the longevity of their wallet.

This backpack fits a laptop up to 16 inches, and it has a zippered front pocket which I think looks handy for essentials like keys. I like that it’s quite a classic style, so you could definitely take this to the office.

Pixie Mood Caitlin vegan laptop tote

Fits up to 16″

Ok, I swear I didn’t pick this one just because it shares my name! Pixie Mood makes really cute vegan handbags (in my opinion!). I love the look of this tote-style laptop bag, because it could so easily double up as a handbag.

The vegan leather laptop bag has a padded laptop compartment that fits a laptop up to 16 inches, an interior pocket and a front flap with a phone pocket, pen loops and cable management. This is the kind of level of organisation I dream about, especially come September when I get the urge to buy loads of notebooks and pens and reorganise my life!

It comes with a detachable long strap so there’s the option to carry it crossbody. The top closes with a zipper closure – which to me, living in a big city, is super important – I don’t want anyone to be able to reach in my bag and steal my phone.

Cork (natural colour of light brown) tote bag

Corkor satchel bag

Fits up to 13″ | Sustainable materials

I love cork! It’s one of the most sustainable materials in the world. This Corkor vegan laptop purse, like all of Corkor’s products, is made from cork, a very eco-friendly material. Cork is naturally water-resistant and durable.

I love how organised the interior of this bag looks – it contains a compartment for a 13-inch laptop, a pocket for a 7-inch tablet, an additional slip pocket and a zippered pocket and a key ring holder.

Ashoka Paris City vegan apple leather briefcase

Fits up to 15″ | Sustainable materials

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of grey bags, but if I were picking one, this is the one I’d go for – one of the most attractive grey laptop bags I’ve come across. If you’re looking for a proper briefcase with style, this is what I’d recommend.

It’s made of eco-friendly vegan apple leather (made using waste from the apple juice industry) and has a detachable shoulder strap and carrying handles. It has two inside pockets, one for your laptop and one for your other stuff. It’s a very sleek look so I wouldn’t recommend if it you have a lot to carry, but if you want to look put together going into business meetings, it looks perfect to me.

Classic style black Wills vegan briefcase

Wills vegan briefcase

Fits up to 15″ | Sustainable materials

I’d pick this briefcase if I wanted a classic look with plenty of room for everything I needed during my commute. This classic style briefcase from Will’s Vegan Store will fit a laptop up to 15 inches, plus A4 notebooks/files, your tablet, umbrella etc. It has an internal zippered compartment to store your keys, wallet and glasses.

The non leather briefcase is made of an Italian vegan leather made with bio oil sourced from European cereal crops. It can be carried with the top handle or a strap over the shoulder.

Black vegan leather backpack with red trim

Canussa vegan laptop backpack

Fits up to 15″ | Sustainable material

I love the red detailing on this otherwise one-toned black backpack! Canussa’s non leather laptop bags are practical and beautiful. The backpack fits laptops up to 15 inches, and features multiple pockets inside so you can organise your belongings. I have a Canussa tote bag that I absolutely love for its clean, sleek lines.

They use an OEKO-Tex certified and PETA-approved vegan microfiber leather that’s lightweight, durable and eco-friendly, and the lining is made from SEAQUAL, a 100% recycled material made from plastic bottles and plastic recovered from the ocean. Canussa’s bags are made in Spain.

Laptop sleeves/cases

Perhaps rather than a dedicated laptop bag, you just need a laptop cover so you can take your laptop in a bag or backpack you already own.

Lots of laptop sleeves like neoprene sleeves are vegan, or you can go for a vegan leather laptop case like one of the ones I’ve listed below.

The best vegan leather laptop sleeve options:

Canussa corn leather laptop sleeve

Sizes: 13″, 14″, 15″ | Sustainable material

As mentioned above, Canussa makes beautifully-designed vegan bags from sustainable materials (I love my Canussa City tote bag!). This laptop sleeve is made in Spain and is made from waste generated in Alicante. It’s really well-priced given its sustainability credentials and being made in Spain. It’s also a lightweight and water-resistant material. This is my top pick!

Melina Bucher Mirum plastic-free vegan leather laptop sleeve

Fits up to 13″

Mirum is a new/latest generation vegan leather made from waste materials that’s the first vegan leather in the world to be plastic-free. I love that this vegan laptop sleeve has two additional inner pockets so you can carry your phone or a notebook in addition to your laptop. The only downside is the price and the fact it only fits laptops up to 13 inches, so if you have a larger laptop you’ll need a different sleeve.

Tan vegan leather laptop case with zipper

Will’s laptop case

Fits up to 13″ | Affordable

I like this classic-looking vegan laptop case – it looks well-padded to me too. This vegan laptop case from Will’s Vegan Store is handmade using an Italian vegan leather, made with bio oil from Northern European-grown organic cereal crops. It’s lined with a soft vegan suede.

It fits 13-inch laptops including the Macbook Pro, and closes with a zipper (with two zipper pulls). Chose from black with a grey lining or tan with a dark brown lining.

Green leaf leather laptop case with leaves visible

Fits up to 14″ | Sustainable material | Affordable

I love Leafii’s innovative use of leaves to make eco-friendly bags and accessories. Looking for an eco-friendly vegan leather that also looks attractive and evokes nature? This Leafii laptop sleeve is made out of leaf leather!

Leaf leather is made from fallen teak leaves in Thailand (trees are never cut down), which are coated in BOPP film, a biodegradable and non-toxic polymer. This sleeve fits laptops up to 14 inches and also standard sized documents, and closes with a zipper. I also think it’s a great price especially considering the use of eco-friendly materials. I have a Leafii wallet in teal that gets so many compliments.
