Don't Have Time to Research Vegan Places?

I get it. Life these days is busy.

Who wants to give up their precious evenings and weekends researching a trip?

Isn’t a vacation supposed to be blissful, not stressful?

Say no to the sad side salad 🍽️

So maybe you’ve tried to wing it (I know I have a few times). You’ve traveled somewhere without doing any research in advance and just crossed your fingers and hoped for the best…

And ended up with the saddest of sad side salads for dinner (sigh).

Say adiós to the dreaded “Closed” sign ❌

Maybe you got a little more organized for the next trip and saved a couple restaurants to your map in advance. But totally forgot to check what days they were closed…and found yourself standing outside a restaurant staring at the “Closed” sign while your empty stomach grumbled.

Say “not this time” to the uncooperative partner 👬

Then you went away for the weekend but your wife refuses to set foot in a vegan restaurant so you ended up yet again in a burger joint, eating just fries.

Say goodbye to the fear of being glutened 🌾

Or maybe you’ve got allergies, and trying to find gluten free AND vegan food has seemed just too much, making you not even really want to travel during your time off. Is it worth the stress?

Say “Yes!” to the Solution… ✅

But I am here to craft the perfect custom vegan trip itinerary for you so you can have a completely stress-free trip. All you have to do is take 5 minutes to fill out a questionnaire.

Using my extensive research methods and 16 years of vegan travel experience, I’ll make your custom vegan itinerary to match your needs – whatever they are.

Wouldn't life be better if...

Vegan food everywhere

You never had to eat a sad side salad for dinner again, and instead had (multiple!) delicious vegan options to choose from everywhere.

No Stress

You could stop stressing - vacations should be fun. Relax while we do the work for you.

Save Time

You had your evenings to spend with your family. Don't waste hours of your precious time finding restaurants and comparing their (sometimes crazy) opening hours.

Less hassle

You didn't have to waste time. We recommend the best sights to see, and the vegan-friendly restaurants in walking distance...so you don't have to spend your vacation in a taxi.

hi! I'm Caitlin

As a lifelong vegetarian and vegan since 2008, I know the joys and perils of travel as a vegan. I’ve lived in four countries since going vegan and travelled to over 30!

I’ve since served as vegan travel columnist for Vegetarian Living magazine and written two bestselling vegan guidebooks.

Thanks to my experience and my love of research, I’ve had amazing experience in dozens of countries as a vegan.

And now? I want the same for you.

That’s why I created Tailor-Made Vegan Trip Itineraries. Let me do the work for you (I love research and writing!) and prepare your tailor-made vegan trip itinerary for you.

Your vacation should be blissful, not stressful.

Let’s do this!

Never miss a meal again

Sick of struggling to find vegan food on your travels? Skipped dinner because you couldn’t find anything without meat?

With our vegan travel itineraries, that’s now a thing of the past.

FAQ

No, you can buy an itinerary for just a portion of your trip! The itineraries are priced per city, so if you are going to multiple cities, purchase an itinerary for each city you want an itinerary for – it doesn’t have to be all of them.

I priced the itineraries as low as possible to make them accessible to the maximum number of people, but they take a long time to create – a 7-day itinerary takes me between 7 and 10 hours to create.

Each itinerary is crafted with care – I don’t just pull a list of vegan restaurants off Google maps, I spend days painstakingly researching destinations and recommending vegan restaurants I’ve been to and love. I also add vegan travel insights and tips gleaned from my 16 years of travelling as a vegan, plus my experience writing two bestselling vegan guidebooks and serving as a vegan travel columnist for Vegetarian Living magazine.

I tested out a dozen different AI services (including travel-specific AI assistants) to see if I could speed up the process and lower prices by using AI to help and then checking, adding to and editing the results myself and simply put, AI is not up the job at present.

One travel AI assistant I tested (who shall remain nameless) laughably put the word “vegan” in front of random restaurants it recommended and completely non-vegan dishes, such as “go to vegan steakhouse Ariel’s near the museum and enjoy a vegan steak, done rare.”

Other AI assistants I tested recommended restaurants that have been closed, sometimes for years, or restaurants that don’t have any vegan options on the menu at all. None of them did a good job of recommending vegan food.

You can of course do days of research on your own on Happycow, Google and Tripadvisor and craft your own itinerary – it just depends if you have the time on your hands.

I get that spending money right now can be scary. But if you’ve spent thousands of dollars on the trip of a lifetime, don’t you deserve to eat great vegan food on your trip?

Bingo! This is where I come in.

I get it. Modern life is busy. And stressful.

Whether you’re a working mom juggling the school run and Zoom meetings, or a busy professional working till 10pm in your city job, it’s hard enough to find times to book a flight.

So sit back, relax, and sip on an oat latte while I do the work.

I’ll craft your perfect vegan trip itinerary.

All you need is 5 minutes to fill out a questionnaire, and I’ll do the rest.

Then simply spend another 5 minutes booking your hotel (I’ll even suggest some hotels that serve vegan breakfast, including budget, mid-range and luxury options) and any activities, and you’re good to go.

Because vacations should be relaxing, not add to your stress levels.

I’m glad you asked!

My name is Caitlin and I’m the founder of The Vegan Word, an award-winning vegan travel blog.

I’ve been vegan since 2008 and I’ve lived in four countries and travelled to more than 30 countries since going vegan.

I’ve authored two best-selling vegan travel guidebooks, The Essential Vegan Travel Guide and The Vegan Word Vegan Guide to Barcelona.

I served as vegan travel columnist for Vegetarian Living magazine prior to its closure, and my work has been featured in The New York Times, the Guardian and Yahoo!

Through my extensive experiences of travelling as a vegan, I’ve learned how importance research and preparation is – which is why I’m here to help you, and to plan the perfect vegan trip itinerary for you.

Every tailor-made vegan trip itinerary is crafted by me, for you – so it’s completely bespoke.

After filling out a quick questionnaire, I’ll craft your custom itinerary, which will include:

Top attractions & activities, based on your interests

Whether you love hiking or street art, I’ll recommend the best attractions in your destination for your interests.

Vegan-friendly restaurants within walking distance of each attraction

Because nothing is more frustrating than being hangry and trying to find vegan food last minute. Or having to take an expensive (and loooong) taxi ride across the city to a restaurant.

Downloadable/printable PDF

Save your itinerary on your phone, or print it out.

Whatever you prefer!

Suggested hotels (with vegan breakfasts if possible)

If you’ve already booked a hotel, simply tell me and I’ll find vegan-friendly restaurants within walking distance of your hotel.

If you haven’t yet booked, I’ll send suggested hotels – and I’ll even try to find ones that serve vegan breakfast.

Downloadable custom Google map

I’ll create a custom Google map for you with all the attractions, activities and vegan-friendly restaurants so you can navigate with ease.

If you’re going to be offline, you can save the map for offline use.

Vegan travel tips

The top tips I’ve gleaned through my decade and a half of vegan travel experience in more than 30 countries.

How to order vegan meals on a plane

Confused by all the letters? VGML/VOML/AVML what?!

What all those meals mean when you’re looking at airline meals – and how to get a vegan meal on the plane

What to pack in your suitcase

Including cruelty-free and eco toiletry ideas, plus emergency vegan snacks (and why you ALWAYS need to carry these!).

After you fill out the questionnaire about your trip and complete your payment, you can expect your itinerary in 2 weeks.

If your trip is particularly long or complicated, it may take longer and I will be in touch to let you know when to expect your itinerary.

If you have a last-minute trip and need yours sooner, I may be able to provide an itinerary faster for an additional fee. Please get in touch ([email protected]) to discuss availability and fees.

Close your eyes for a minute and imagine yourself in your destination.

Now imagine it’s dinnertime.

You’ve just checked into your hotel.

Your stomach is growling and it’s time to eat.

You pull up your map on your phone. You halfheartedly saved a  couple of restaurants that showed up when you searched “vegan” in the airport.

But wait…

The nearest one is 3 miles away?!

And…it’s closed on Mondays, but you didn’t notice that when you were looking earlier!

Defeated, you go to the restaurant across the street from your hotel. You tuck into a sad, wilted side salad…the only vegan thing on the menu. This isn’t the start to the holiday you imagined…

I want to banish sad side salads forever!

Holidays shouldn’t be stressful – and I’m here to plan your perfect meat-free, stress-free trip.

Now imagine you’re back at the hotel, stomach grumbling.

You pull up the vegan trip itinerary I created for you on your phone.

I’ve found a vegan-friendly restaurant that’s open on Mondays that’s only a 5-minute walk from your hotel.

You open the custom Google map I made for you, and navigate to the restaurant.

You sit down and look at the menu, pondering whether to have the vegan cheeseburger and fries or the Buddha bowl with tofu… In the end you settle on the vegan currywurst – you are in Germany, after all, and you might as well try vegan versions of the local dishes!

Now this is a real vacation.

No! Your vegan trip itinerary will have all the information you need and can be saved to your phone/tablet or printed out.

All you’ll need to do is book your flight/train, your hotel and any activities.

If you’re visiting over the holidays, or a restaurant is known to be particularly popular, I may note restaurants that require reservations.

Because each itinerary requires my time (a one-week itinerary takes me 5-10 hours to make), I can’t offer refunds.

If, however, you’re unhappy for any reason, please get in touch ([email protected]).

I guarantee I will do 100% to make you the best, most ideal itinerary for you and your needs, using my 16 years of experience traveling as a vegan and writing bestselling vegan travel guides.

You’ll also get a chance to request changes or additions to the itinerary after the first draft is ready.

Of course! Your itinerary will be different, naturally, since it will be custom-made for you and your needs, but I have two samples itineraries you can download below.
